Ding Dong, The Man Is Gone And A Generous Gift

I am still in shock. My husband is at a men's retreat this morning. He left Friday at 6pm and they are coming back sometime in the evening. They are sleeping in tents even. Man stuff, grunt grunt.


First of all, I am still just in shock that he is there. I am in shock that he wanted to go. Have you ever watched something so miraculous happen and when it was over you still couldn't believe it had happened? I'm trying to figure out God's ways I guess and I don't think you can reason those things out. He just does what He does. Maybe this is what happened to the Israelites in the desert. It was so incredible they couldn't grasp ahold of it. Well, I am so excited for him. I am just blown away that he's in church, reading his Bible every day and now he's at a retreat!!


You know, none of this would even be happening right now if it was not for the obedience of one man. Randy. He is friends with hubby but they only speak if they see each other around town. Maybe once every month or two they run in to each other and talk for an hour or so. Randy says he felt like he was supposed to call us and invite us to this Church he has changed to and it may have been hard on him as he knows Mike is a believer but doesn't like church. But he did and that act of obedience allowed God to begin to work his plan for Mike. Oh ladies, goosebumps...... it is so important that we listen for the Holy Spirit's promptings. Where would my family be if Randy had shrugged it off. What would be the condition of my husband's soul? if Randy had shrugged it off? Goosebumps.


I hope they all have a wonderful day in Tennessee doing all that fun sweaty man stuff they have planned. This trip was only $20, what a blessing!! Otherwise he would not have gone. We really couldn't afford that either but both of us felt like it was extremely important that he go. I'm a real cheapo so if I still felt like he needed to go then God must have something for him up in Tennessee.


I've only been on one retreat for women. It was a retreat basically teaching having kindness towards other women. Women are pretty nasty to each other and judgemental. It was a great retreat. I think a lot of us learned a great deal about other women's lives and that we really should support one another. Everyone has a story to tell.


And now for other news of the day!!

I am a subscriber to Lysa TerKeurst's blog from Proverbs 31 ministries. Love her!! Well, there is an online bible study over at this place for her book "What Happens When Women Say Yes To God". I left a comment that I wanted to join the study and that I was saving to buy the book. Do you know what a beautifully generous woman did? She emailed me to say she found the book at a store near her for an awesome price and she would pick one up for me if I wanted. I was like "oh pretty please, yes". I really really want this book. Some of the things in it Lysa spoke to me during an online conference and it was life changing. I need this book. So she sent it to me in the mail and it arrived yesterday. WHOPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am already in Chapter 3 and fully expect to be done with it this weekend. Then I will pour over it slowly and re read it again. And again. And again. I am loving the bible study without the book so having the book should be awesome. See ladies, those promptings from God...... she does not know me from an ant on the wall and yet something moved her to come on over here and offer to send me that book. I feel guilty that she didn't send me an amount to give her or an address that I can just send something anyway but maybe it was something she just wanted to do? I am so grateful to Kelly, you are a sweet blessing to me. Thank you.

This book is awesome!!!! I highly recommend it.
